Great conversation with my wife from RubyConf
- Crystal: I hope you have a real nice evening.
- crnixon@gmail.com: Thanks. I'm going to dinner soon.
- crnixon@gmail.com: There are a lot of Japanese people here.
- Crystal: I'm going to figure out something to eat, myself.
- Crystal: Really?
- crnixon@gmail.com: The creator of Ruby is Japanese. It's very popular there.
- Crystal: Aha!
- Crystal: Who's the creator of the "On Rails" part?
- crnixon@gmail.com: David Heinemeier Hansson
- Crystal: Every time you say/type creator, I think "Kraaator".
- Crystal: Ah, the cute one?
- crnixon@gmail.com: Yes,
- crnixon@gmail.com: KRAATOR!
- Crystal: I wanna play duel of ages!
- crnixon@gmail.com: I have to go to dinner now! I want to play DOA too
- Crystal: Okay, bye!

"Serious Cookie Monster death metal — faster than you can blink riffing with weird, eerie layers of keyboard. Should please fans of Children of Bodom."
— Best album review I’ve read in a while. From na: righteous babe, deerhunter at 17 dots.

Road school
In my dream life, when our oldest kid turns 5, we’ll get rid of most of our possessions, sell our house, and buy an RV. We’ll put an antenna for Internet access on the top. We’ll get in and drive around the continent for the next five years. I’ll get up early in the morning and work as a freelance developer for 4 hours a day. I’ll probably hire an assistant overseas, and maybe even a few junior developers remotely if business gets hot. At noon each day, we either take our kids exploring, teaching them about reading and math and science and history up close and personal; or, we’ll drive somewhere new. We’ll all drink iced tea under the stars and meet new people and let the world be our schoolhouse.October102008

Not my normal thing, but irresistible and beautiful. “No Letting Go,” by Taken By Trees. The whole album, Open Field, is just as good.
