Road school
In my dream life, when our oldest kid turns 5, we’ll get rid of most of our possessions, sell our house, and buy an RV. We’ll put an antenna for Internet access on the top. We’ll get in and drive around the continent for the next five years. I’ll get up early in the morning and work as a freelance developer for 4 hours a day. I’ll probably hire an assistant overseas, and maybe even a few junior developers remotely if business gets hot. At noon each day, we either take our kids exploring, teaching them about reading and math and science and history up close and personal; or, we’ll drive somewhere new. We’ll all drink iced tea under the stars and meet new people and let the world be our schoolhouse.

Not my normal thing, but irresistible and beautiful. “No Letting Go,” by Taken By Trees. The whole album, Open Field, is just as good.

Twilight of the Living Dead (via lesingesavant.) I play a deaf guy who is silently a little freaked out by some zombies. Filmed all up in Durham.

Re-blogging this amazing article. Really worth reading the whole way through to see why people who live in Durham love it so much.

The Submarines are totally my band for summer 2008. It’s indicative of how much I love this band that I was torn between about 4 songs as to which to upload. I chose “Submarine Symphonika” because it’s catchy and emotionally dense, but you should get yourself to their site to hear more. “Swimming Pool,” in particular, is the perfect summer jam.
