Fed dogs; went to work; still in love

It’s tempting not to write about things are aren’t exceptional; but, when every day is good, the things that are the same every day are worth celebrating, too.

Crystal’s blogged about this, already: we have a second dog named Eli. He is growing on me. He is actually a super dog, but he is sort of a catalyst to Charlie. Apart, they are very well-mannered. Together, they turn into super-protective barking machines, capable of running through a screen door to protect the backyard from people in other backyards. They also drink about 75 gallons of water a day. I am not sure where they are storing it, but we need some rain if these guys are going to keep it up.

Work is turning out, unsurprisingly, to be a job and not the beginning of the Second Coming or anything, which is fine. I love it more than any job I’ve had before, and it’s probably better than I find out now that not every day is puppies and flowers. I play ping-pong everyday, have the best $5 Mexican food in town next door, and Eli’s coming to work tomorrow, so overall, it’s considerably incredible.

Crystal and I celebrated our second wedding anniversary a few weeks early, as she’ll be in South Africa during our real anniversary. It was nice: I didn’t pick a very private restaurant, but I thought the open kitchen and dark reds, browns, and purples everywhere were romantic and fun. We were decadent and had spiced grapes and baked goat cheese and encrusted fish and duck and a bottle of wine and a slice of pie. It was two-and-a-half hours of laughing and eating deeply.
